Hood Canal is the wild side of Washington… a short jump from Seattle by way of the Bremerton Ferry or a drive South or North I-5 exiting at 104 in Olympia… your next adventure is right around the corner.

The Hama Hama Oyster Company est: 1922

One mile south of the Little House,  it showcases a fish market with fresh fish, oysters, clams and if you are lucky geoduck! It has a renowned Oyster Saloon with selections of raw or smoked oysters, crab cakes, grilled cheese, wine, and beer. Children are welcome.      360-877-5811

Whitney Gardens

12 miles North in Brinnon, WA.  Established in 1955. These gardens are run by a local lady, Ellie Sather and well worth the visit to see hundreds of rhododendron and azalea varieties, plus trees, flowers and plants for sale. The matriarch of the family (Ellie’s mother)  lived to be 100 years old and worked well into her 90’s.  Open daily 9am-6pm.

Rocky Brook Falls

There is a beautiful water fall outside of Brinnon you can walk to. Rocky Brooks Falls is no further than 2 blocks off the road and it is spectacular. Located on the Dosewallips road at the north end of Brinnon.  2405 Dosewallips Road, Brinnon, WA. There is a small parking area across from the road from the Falls. Walk on the path to the left of the building.  More waterfalls and scenic walks.

Allie Ahl Lane

Allie Ahl was a pioneer who lived to be 103 years young. She worked in the lumber camps as a cook (so they say). Allie Ahl owned this section of land that we have the privilege of residing on today. More information can be found at the Mason County Museum in Shelton.

Restaurants

El Puerto De Angeles 4 Mexican Restaurant in Hoodsport: (12 miles South) across from the IGA on the water side. They have outside seating.  Food is very good.  Online ordering available.

Hoodsport Pizzeria: 150 N. Lake Cushman Road, Hoodsport.  A quick turn by the bank and it passed the Post Office and located in the Forest Service Building.  360-877-2229

Pleasant Harbor Marina: The Galley & Pub: (10 miles north).  Fresh handmade pizzas, sandwiches, wraps and salads.  Great views, large outdoor patio weather permitting.

The Geoduck Restaurant and Lounge: (11 miles north) close to Brinnon.  360-796-4430         A relaxed local atmosphere.  Great views of Hood Canal.  Established 1938!!

The Halfway House Restaurant: located in Brinnon across from the Brinnon Store. Local flavor and local folk, a great place for a little history.  Noted for the best pies on Hood Canal.  360-796-4715.
